RoAb #66 - The 'NAIAS 2011 Preview' Episode

It’s that time of year again. Sure, it is National Bath Safety Month but it’s also the season where we cover more ground than marathon runners; break ribs like passengers in the Tokyo subway as we get crushed in media scrums; and test our survival skills, subsisting almost exclusively off of room-temperature turkey wraps and stale cookies from the media lounge.  That’s right, January only means one thing.  It’s the Detroit Auto Show, baby!  What BIG reveals are on the docket for 2011?  Well, you’ve come to the right place.  Buick will unveil its new compact sedan, the Verano.  Porsche *may* take the wraps off a new supercar in a much-rumored production-version of the 918 Spyder.  Chevy will premiere its replacement for the moribund Aveo, called the Sonic.  Enjoy all that and more on this week’s admittedly abbreviated installment of RoundAbout, #66, the “NAIAS 2011 Preview” episode.

RoAb #49 - The 'If You Can't Beat 'Em, Join 'Em' Episode

So we're back again--and apologies for any audio weirdness; our new studio set up still needs some work--and we're closing in on landmark episode 50. So, of course, loyal host that he is, Craig Cole has up and left us for some driving fun down South. No worries though, for Miss MotorMouth herself steps up to take a swing at the host's chair.

Our tenuous theme this week is 'If You Can't Beat 'Em, Join 'Em' and so we have stories of people and companies making their way in an adverse world. RIM patents billboards that change their content to meet the speed of traffic, meanwhile Switzerland realizes it can't stop public fornication, but they can hide it. Also, some big rigs decide they're going to join the world of jetplanes and spew copious amounts of brightly-colored gas into the air. Plus we've got editions of BLIND SPOT, AUTOGADGET, PSY-CAR-LOGY and way, way more, so stay tuned for this rip-roaring edition of RoundAbout.

RoAb #22 - The 'From Bad to Worse' Episode

There's this car company--you may have heard of it--but it's having a really bad week, heck, couple of weeks. No, it's not one of the automakers crawling from the wreckage that is the smoldering city of Detroit. Actually, it's that one that all the magazines tell you is the sure buy. First things went bad for them, but lo and behold, they have gotten worse and worse. So, in solidarity we're going to stand by their side and bring you, dear listener, the 'From Bad to Worse' episode.

It was bad when the Pontiac Solstice was sent to the old folks home to retire, it's worse now that it's been bastardized as an ugly, ugly EV. And, when you attempt to right an overturned semi, remember to put the parking brake on. Speaking of out-of-control trucks, we smell a new anti-porn law coming to a state near you. Plus we've got another installment of In the Garage as Zach gets a turn behind the wheel of the Buick LaCrosse and it's everyone's favorite gameshow, The Price is CORRECT!
