Plagiarism, It's a Pretty Big Deal

+ Click to enlargeWhat’s old is new again.  That’s how this whole retro thing works, right?  As you’ve probably seen, Ford’s been running a commercial for the Fiesta that features some wild Cirque du Soleil-style acrobatics.  Entitled It's a Pretty Big Deal, it highlights many of the car’s virtues in a clever, eye-catching way.   But the look and feel of this 60-second spot are remarkably similar to an ad from more than half a century ago, one that trumpeted the merits of the then-brand new ‘49 Ford.  Take a closer look at these two images.  See what I mean?

Of course the big question is: if you steal from yourself is it still plagiarism? ... Probably not.
